Pre-1985

The first module built by the CJSS was a
16 ft switching layout owned by Mike
Ferraro that is still in use as of September 2008. From
that module, the S-MOD system was developed through the creation of the
S-MOD standards committee which included S Club representatives from
all over the U.S. |

The 16 ft CJSS module was shown at
several RailExpo shows at the Central Jersey
Railroad Terminal at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. I
first met the club in 1985 at one of those shows... and that began my
module mania. The first issue of Stack Talk, the club
newsletter
was published in December 1985.

The club set up a display layout at the
Rail Expo IV Trainshow at the CNJ terminal at Liberty State park in May.
Several CJSS modules were taken to the
1986 NASG Convention sponsored by the Southeastern Michigan S
Gaugers in July. I do not have a diagram of that large layout.

Since 1994, the CJSS Get-Together meets
changed to a joint S-MOD
Layout / S Dealer gathering. Due to space limitations, no large layouts
have been created.

Bill Lane (module),
Don DeWitt (module),
Dick Lind, and Claude Demers (new owner of Allen
Yard) and perhaps a few others are building new modules or revising
old modules that will be wired
for the new S-MOD/DCC Recommended Practice (coming soon!). Please
contact me (see below) if you are interested in joining us at the
Get-Together next fall. |
