Schwanger (ref) (son of Jacob Swanger, Jr. (ref) and Anna Maria Schmid) World Expert on this family is Alvin Swonger: (ref) Jacob Schwanger Jr. was born in 5 May 1743 in Helleringen, Lorraine, Germany, but came to America at age 4 with his parents in 1747. His parents were Jacob Schwanger (b. 1714) and Maria Susanna Leyenberger, the original immigrant Schwangers to America. (ref) 1791: Marriage in Exeter, Berks Co, PA (See Berks Co. MAP) 1807: Lived in Heidelburg, Berks Co, PA 1810: Lived in Beavertown, Northumberland Co., PA 1820: Lived in Beavertown, Union Co, PA 1830: Lived in Adamsburg, Union Co, PA Berks county's county seat is Reading which developed during the 1740s and the northern inhabitants of Lancaster County sent several petitions requesting that a separate county be established. With the help of Conrad Weiser, the county was formed on March 11, 1752 from Chester County, Lancaster County, and Philadelphia County and named after William Penn's family home of Berkshire, England. Berks County began much larger than it is today. The northwestern parts of the county went to the founding of Northumberland County in 1772 and Schuylkill County in 1811, when it reached its current size.
