Regarding Due Dates

Failure to submit a paper at the end of the class on the day it is due or at the announced time on a day in which you do not have a class, (for example, Thursday by 4:30 pm) results in an immediate penalty of 5%.  Another 5% is removed from your grade beginning at noon on the next day, and every day thereafter until the score drops to 70.  (However, if the due date is Friday, and you turn the paper in on Monday, you will loose only 10 points!) If the assignment is never turned in by the final drop dead due date at the end of the trimester, the score converts to 0.  If the assignment is turned after the score has dropped to 70, it is evaluated as usual, beginning with 70 instead of 100.

NOTE: If you skip assignment 1 and then turn it in on the last day to gain a few points.... the best you can get is a 70 and that is assuming you do a perfect job!  One student two years ago turned in a paper in another course of mine on the last day and submitted only 31 pts worth of material. Well... with the 30 pt late penalty, he got a score of 1.

The percentage ranges for letter trimester and final grades may be accessed at: GRADES.
--------------

Due dates after extensions:
On occasion it becomes necessary to extend a due date.  In that case, the extended due date is strictly enforced.  No further extensions will be made for any reasons.  Five percent per day penalties will apply even over weekends.  So if something is due on a Friday, REALIZE the potential consequences if you do not submit your work until Monday.
--------------

e-mail submissions:
No e-mailed documents are accepted.  I will not become your printer service.  I will not take up my time to compare your e-mail version to the written version, that you eventually submit, to make sure that you did not change your document after e-mailing me.  (It has happened!)
--------------

US Postal Service / FEDEX / etc. submissions:
If you are unable to submit a paper before a weekend or holiday, you may mail the paper to me via the US Postal service (or Fed Ex, etc.) and I will accept the cancelation date on the letter as your submittal date.  However see the Mailing Penalty below.

Mailing Penalty

Unfortunately due to the large volume of "mailed" submissions and the onerous job of worrying about lost papers, packages without cancelations, students staying home from school all day and then mailing their paper and the job of unpacking and securing proof of mailing to the submitted assessment, there is now a Mailing Penalty of an additional 2% beyond any late penalty.
