Cell Biology Overview:

Introduction Pre-requisites Focus Assessments Resources

Introduction

The Cell Biology 1-3 sequence is a series of ELECTIVES for any student at Bergen County Academies who is seeking an in-depth exploration of the concept of the structure and function of genes (Cell Biology 1), and the application of molecular genetics to the study of viruses (Cell Biology 2) and immunology (Cell Biology 3).  These three courses are descendants of the coursework in the curriculum of Advanced Biology for senior AAST / AEDT students from 1995 - 2003.

Pre-requisite: (back to info menu)
Realization that Virology and Immunology 1/2 are challenging courses.
Focus: (back to info menu)
  Cell Bio 1: molecular genetics

Cell Bio 2 (Virology):
virology and their associated infectious diseases

Immunology 1/2: immunology, stem cells and AIDS

Assessments: (back to info menu)
Students will be assessed via research papers, in-class essay and mutliple choice exams, take-home essay exams, a 5-article current events portfolio per course, role-playing scientific analysis (Outbreak), and crossword puzzles.  For more details, refer to each Cell Biology course via the links shown above in green.
