Clarifications
- All papers must include YOUR name, the
course name, section
and date submitted in the upper right hand corner (single spacing) in the header zone on
the first page ONLY... so do not use the header function of your word
processor
because it will place your name on every page.
- There is a difference between a Heading
and
a Header.
- A Heading is a word or phrase
describing
a section of a paper
such as Clarifications above.
- A Header Zone is the place in your
paper
where your name
is written and ...
- A Footer is the place in your paper
where
the page number
is written.
- Do not submit your paper with a title
page.
(It wastes paper!)
- Do not use plastic folders to protect
your
paper. (It wastes
your money, and I drop them more often.)
- Place your submission in the IN FOLDER
for
YOUR section.
- Late submissions, submissions when I am
not
available, or
when you are too lazy to bring it to my room:
- Ask a teacher or staff member to
print
and sign their name,
and add the date and time when you are placing the document in my
mailbox.
Failure to do so will result in my assumption that you submitted your
work
on the following day with the loss of 5-10% depending when I visit my
mailbox.
- Alternative: You may mail via United
States Postoffice, Fed
Ex, or equvalent your work to me at my school address. The critical
issue
is the time and date it is taken out of your hands. Therefore
make
sure the cancellation or time of mailing will be displayed clearly on
your
package.
- Graphics should support each
major
section of your
assignments (except Current Events reviews).
- Photos may be used as graphics for
photos
of people, places
or apparati. They may not be used for drawings of molecules or
flow
charts, etc. Graphics about molecules, structures, or flow charts
should be drawn by hand, or may be traced from a referenced
source.
- All Figures must be placed in the
paper
in order of their
discussion.
- All Figures must be referred to in
the
text of your paper
using styles such as: "As seen in Figure 2, " or "(See Figure 1.)"
- All graphics are to be considered as
figures and all figures
must include a one-sentence legend describing the graphic. All
graphics
should be appropriately labeled.
- Graphics DO NOT need to be presented
in
color. Color
graphics are optional and will gain no extra points.
- Warning: Printing on graphics that is
illegible, will negate
the value of the graphic.
