Note: I have included these three children as offspring from Elizabeth based upon the relative birthdates. My Mary Ned Fotis resource does not include even Elizabeth Lewis as a first wife. The second reference from the McGraws includes these three children in addition to those listed below. However the McGraws obtained their information from Ancestry.com Basil Harvey genealogy which lists all the children below as children of Elizabeth Lewis which is impossible since Mary Hall married Basil on 15 March 1794. So I assume that the children listed below are Mary's.
In another source, (ancestry.com Jeppesen genealogy) Mary Hall married Basil on 15 Mar 1804, so then if this is true, she would NOT be their mother.

Gabriel and Elizabeth were living with Lewis and Margaret (2nd wife) in 1850 in Jefferson Co, IL.
It is not clear if Gabriel and Elizabeth are brother and sister or man and wife. (See bottom comment)

As of 3/2007, note also that in a OneWorldTree listing for Gabriel born 1827, he was son of a Lewis born in 1800 in Farrington, Jefferson, IL. However Lewis is listed as a son of Zacariah Harvey, b 1 Jul 1779 in Damascus, Montgomery, MD. He died in 10 Feb 1868 in Jefferson Co, IL

Zacariah was the son of William Harvey and Margaret Bell.

HOWEVER....The 1850 census shows a 22 year old Lewis as a son of 62 yr old Zacariah and 55 yr old Sarah Harvey. Zacariah was living in the same district as the 50 yr old Lewis who was living with a Margaret and the children shown below.

I believe that Zacariah's Lewis
was aslo known as Sonis Lewis.

Civil War Battle at which Basil Harvey was captured.

JONESVILLE. VA.
JANUARY 3-5, 1864

Jonesville, Va., Jan. 3-5, 1864. Detachment of the 16th
Illinois Cavalry and 22nd Ohio Battery. After having driven
the Confederates from Jonesville, Maj. Charles H. Beeres camped
in that place on Friday and Saturday nights. Early Sunday
morning (the 5th) his command was surprised by the enemy, under
Brig.-Gen. William E. Jones, and driven in confusion for some
distance. Beeres finally rallied his men and fought until 3
p. m., when, having had 31 men killed, he surrendered the re-
mainder of his command, which originally consisted of about 250
men, a rifled gun and 2 mountain howitzers. The enemy lost 5
killed and 11 wounded.

Basil's residence in 1850 and 15 Jun 1860 was Jefferson Co, Illinois.

A Basil Harvey from Illinois enlisted in the Union Army during Civil War. He joined the 16th Cavalry Regiment IL. (Company L)
(His name is stored as Bazil.)

On Jan. 3, 1864, at Jonesville, VA, a detachment under Maj. Beers was attacked by three of Longstreet's brigades and after maintaining its ground for 10 hours against five times its own number, losing heavily in killed and wounded, its ammunition gave out and it was compelled to surrender. The loss of the regiment upon this occasion was 356 men and 56 officers.

Basil was captured at the battle of Jonesville, VA on 3 January 1864 (See description at the left.)

He died from his wounds on 15 January 1864. Cause of Death: Froze to death -- Libby Prison, Belle Is., VA. He is buried in Belle Isle POW Camp, Richmond, VA (ref)

Ancestry.com has record stating burial there
however.

The death toll at Libby Prison is unknown; Confederate officials burned all the prison records at the end of the war.

* There seems to be confusion about who is the mother of Basil's children. The Basil Harvey genealogy lists Rebecca Harbert as dying in 1822, but her children? Mary thru William were all born after 1830 (see below) and of course, she was married in 1823. HOWEVER, in 2006, I found Rebecca's tombstone inscription as dying on 18 Sep 1872 and listed as the wife of Basil. Patsey Stout is listed below as a second wife.

** Originally I found their marriage date of November 7th, but a family bible found by Kelly Claycomb in Missouri, in 2007 lists Basil and Rebecca's marriage date as November 9th.

Last name based on fact that Elihu's motherinlaw was living with them. Her name was Phebe Agin. Next door was the Lewis Agin family.

A male Elihu P Harvey
lived in Clay Township, Linn Co, MO in 1880. He was 41 so was born about 1839.

He served in the Civil War between 1862 &1865 from the 1890 census. He was a prisoner at the famous Andersonville, POW camp. (See below)

This is such an unusual name, that I assume that John Washington Harvey named a son after him.
