Attendance Policy
Molecular Biology 1-5
2005-2006
for Dr. Don DeWitt
(last update: 12/1/05)

ABSENCES
Attendance in all of my classes is expected.  By school policy you must attend 85% of the possible classes each trimester or you may not receive course credit for that trimester.  Molecular Biology 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 is an elective. Losing course credit may force you to take a different elective in the future in order to satisfy your electives requirements for graduation.

Since we are scheduled for 24 classes per trimester, 85% computes into 21 classes, so that translates into the following statement:

You may not miss more than 3 classes per trimester.  There is no such thing as an excused absence.

If you miss a class,
  1. you may make that class up by working on your own during your free time, if the missed class was a note copying day, but you can not make up a lecture class.
  2. you may view a missed video, by arrangement with me for a mutually convenient time outside of class.
CUTS
If you cut my class, that counts toward your accumulating absence total as one missed class.
TARDYS
If you are later for class by more than 10 minutes, that will count as a TARDY and 3 TARDY'S = 1 ABSENCE.
